What is WordPress?

Before wanting to learn divi and wordpress first ask yourself a question, “What exactly is WordPress?” . If you’ve got the answer to your question then you’re allowed to skip this portion. But if you don’t have an answer then let me give you an answer.

WordPress is the simplest, most popular way to create your own website or blog.

It’s a CMS (Content Management System) which has seen a huge growth in the last few years. It provides a user all the required tools to make wonderful websites or blog. In fact, WordPress powers over 35.2% of all the websites on the Internet. Yes – more than one in four websites that you visit are likely powered by WordPress.

Why WordPress?

WordPress is so simple to use that even you’re not a developer like me, you can still make some reall super elegant website or blog. WordPress gives alot of customization options by which you can make your website or blog look stunning without even using a single line of code all thanks to WordPress’ huge ecosystem of themes and plugins:

  • Themes – these primarily change how your website looks.
  • Plugins – these primarily change how your website functions. Plugins can be something small, like a contact form, or huge, like creating an eCommerce store.

Currently, there are over 50,000 free WordPress plugins and 5,000 free WordPress themes, as well as tons of premium options. That to say – you have plenty of choices!  And DIVI is one of the WordPress themes, infact it’s the number one WordPress Premium Theme.

What is Divi?

Divi is a flagship theme and a page builder  by Elegant Themes . It’s the most widely used premium WordPress theme in the world according to stats from BuiltWith.com. Divi is more than just a theme, it’s a website building framework that makes it possible to design beautiful websites without ever writing a single line of code. It can be enjoyed by design professionals and newcomers alike, giving you the power to create spectacular designs with surprising ease and efficiency.

Why Divi?

Divi is like Photoshop or Sketch for the web. It brings an advanced design interface to WordPress that both beginners and experts will fall in love with. It’s incredibly smart, super flexible, amazingly powerful and visual by nature. This is how designing for the web is meant to be done.

With Divi, every part of your website is customizable. You have complete freedom to create the perfect website for you or your clients. Easily change colors, fonts and text styles. Apply stunning animations. Transform elements on the fly and apply advanced filters and effects. Control spacing and sizing. Add box shadows and text shadows. Create interesting background effects using gradients, images and videos. The list goes on!

How to Start Using WordPress?

There are basically two things you need to create a WordPress blog or Website:

  1. A domain name idea (this will be the name of your blog i.e zeerakisonline.com)
  2. A web hosting account (this is where your website lives on the internet

1-Domain & Hosting

WordPress is  free but you have to do the setup and host it yourself.

In other words, you need a domain name and web hosting to get started with wordpress.

A domain name is what people type to get to your website. It’s your website’s address on the internet. For example like freelancepakistan.com or zeerakisonline.com

Web hosting is where your website files are stored. It’s a place where your WordPress website live or in simple words it’s your Website’s home on the internet. Every website needs web hosting.

A domain name typically costs around $14.99 / year, and web hosting normally costs $7.99 / month.

That’s a lot of money for beginners who are just starting out.

But If you don’t have enough budget to purchase a domain name or web hsoting, you can go for other alternatives like you can use WebHostApp or if you’re just starting off, you can use the Local Server and install wordpress on your local site.

2-Installing WordPress Locally

The video below is all you need to watch in order to install wordpress on a local server.

Uploading and Instaling Divi Theme
